Gippsland COVID Update 5:00pm Wed 28 Sept

There are 38 total active cases of COVID-19 in Gippsland. One person from the Latrobe Valley is in hospital with COVID-19.
New cases today:
Latrobe City: 4
Baw Baw: 1
South Gippsland: 1
Wellington: 2
The Latrobe Valley now has 24 active cases; 20 are linked to known outbreaks.
All five of Baw Baw’s total cases are linked to known outbreaks.
Of the Bass Coast’s four total cases, three are linked to known outbreaks. Viral fragments are still being detected in wastewater on Phillip Island and the San Remo area.
One of the Wellington Shire’s two cases is linked to a known outbreak in the Latrobe Valley.
In South Gippsland, only one of the three total cases is linked to a known outbreak.
Nearly 1,900 tests have been conducted over the past two days. A new testing site has been set up at the Morwell East football netball ground.

5,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be sent to the area to increase vaccine coverage. The state-run mass vaccination clinic will have extended hours over the next week, along with some GP clinics in the area.
